The Red Clay Strays are an American country rock band formed in Mobile, Alabama in 2016, fronted by lead vocalist/guitarist Brandon Coleman with Andrew Bishop (bass), Drew Nix (guitar/vocals), Zach Rishel (guitar), and John Hall (drums). Emerging from a Mobile-area covers band, they built a regional following across the Southeast on heavy touring before self-releasing their debut album "Moment of Truth" in 2022. The album's slow-burn love song "Wondering Why" went viral on TikTok and crossed to the Billboard Hot 100 in late 2023, prompting a signing with RCA Records. Their Dave Cobb-produced second album "Made By These Moments" (2024) reached the Top 40 of the Billboard 200, and their third studio album "Grateful" followed in June 2026. Their sound fuses Southern rock, outlaw country, gospel-infused soul, and Red Dirt songwriting; while not a strictly Christian band, their music is steeped in gospel and faith imagery.
