Maverick City Music emerged in 2018 from Atlanta, Georgia, with a mission to champion diversity and break down barriers in the worship music industry. Founded by Tony Brown and Jonathan Jay, the collective brings together songwriters from varied backgrounds who might otherwise be overlooked by mainstream Christian music. Their approach — recording songs written by emerging artists in collaborative sessions — has produced a distinctive, genre-blending sound. The group exploded in popularity with albums like 'Jubilee' and their collaboration with Elevation Worship on 'Old Church Basement.' They won the Grammy for Best Contemporary Christian Music Album in 2022.
